Steve Bates and Laura Jones, Saint Mary Magdalene's Church, Tanworth in Arden, September 18th 21010

JB and I were very lucky to beinvited to celebratethe marriage of Steve Bates and the very lovelyLaura Jones . The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Paul Cudby (a cool vicar!) to a packed Saint Mary Magdalenes. the service was lovely, very personlaand incredibly joyfull. This was followed by a great reception. Laura and Steve cam up with the idea of a village fete theme. this was held in the school grounds next to the church, with bouncy castles, ball pools, face painting and a brilliant jazz band. The catering provided was a pig roast, followed by wedding cake.  We all had a great time, and did not even notice the inclement weather, which did luckily holdoff until we ahd left the church.Mr and Mrs Bates are currently spending a couple of days in the Cotswolds before flying off to honeymoon in Kenya. JB and I wish them both every happiness and thanks for the invite. In keeping with the Village fete theme, the couple decided to choose a cake the was a little different from the more traditional wedding cake and had a a four tier wonky cake in purples and burgundy to match their colour theme. This was great fun to make . I hope it was as good to eat!!!

My suppliers

I thought you may be intersted in meeting some of my suppliers.
Meet Gingernugget,Caramel and Luscious. THese are three ranger hens that along with seven other chickens (plus two grumpy guinea fowl , a cockeral and two rescue ducks for company) produce most of the eggs used at Marie's Couture  Cakes.  They live at the Livery Yard where my lovely Samson lives. THey have not been as prolific laying as I ahd hoped but they are still quite young so hopefully have plenty of laying time ahead of them. They are quite cheeky and much prefer to eat left over cake than layers pellets, and always know which they are having for dinner.
The difference in cakes made with these eggs and other eggs is very noticable and my cakes are much lighter , and slightly yellower since I have changed "suppliers" If you have not tried our cakes yet, why not order a sample box. The cost of this is fully refundable against any orders.

A Fairy Tale Wedding

Vanessa and Edwards Wedding.

The sun fought through the clouds last week to shine on a beautiful couple who married in Dunchurch last week, with the reception being held afterwards at Dunchurch Manor where the Bride and Groom arrived in a carriage driven by two white horses. The Bride wore a trully fairytale gown in ivory with the slightest hint of pink and soft green in the ruches and flowers. This colour theme was carried through in the Groom's outfit and other male members of  the Bridal partyas well as in the dresses of Vanessa'a five delightfull Bridesmaids.  A five tier wedding cake was inspired by the Bride's fabulous dress,  with the lower tiers being decorated with  drapes and roses and the top tiers being piped with the lace patterning of the trail and bodice of the dress. the cake was topped with ivory and sweet pink roses made in flowerpaste to compliment the brides bouquet of avanlanche roses.  Vanessa also chose to present her female guests with wedding cake shaped cookie favours in the same colours as her wedding cake. Vanessa and Ed are now honeymooning inMauritous.
