JB and I were very lucky to beinvited to celebratethe marriage of Steve Bates and the very lovelyLaura Jones . The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Paul Cudby (a cool vicar!) to a packed Saint Mary Magdalenes. the service was lovely, very personlaand incredibly joyfull. This was followed by a great reception. Laura and Steve cam up with the idea of a village fete theme. this was held in the school grounds next to the church, with bouncy castles, ball pools, face painting and a brilliant jazz band. The catering provided was a pig roast, followed by wedding cake. We all had a great time, and did not even notice the inclement weather, which did luckily holdoff until we ahd left the church.Mr and Mrs Bates are currently spending a couple of days in the Cotswolds before flying off to honeymoon in Kenya. JB and I wish them both every happiness and thanks for the invite. In keeping with the Village fete theme, the couple decided to choose a cake the was a little different from the more traditional wedding cake and had a a four tier wonky cake in purples and burgundy to match their colour theme. This was great fun to make . I hope it was as good to eat!!!
